About Silicon Valley Institute

Silicon Valley Institute (SV Institute) is an educational organization committed to designing, organizing, and delivering effective and innovative educational programs that will inspire and motivate people to make a positive impact by enhancing the lives of individuals and their communities.

 

SV Institute was founded by Cathy Chang whose core belief in the transformational power of education is deeply embedded in every curriculum design and program execution delivered to SV Institute’s clients.

 

SV Institute works closely with many notable organizations and executives and investors in the Silicon Valley / San Francisco entrepreneurial ecosystem.  With close collaboration with our partners, we are able to deliver custom programs that emphasize experiential learning and essential competencies for entrepreneurship and innovation.

Cathy Chang is the Founder and Principal of SV Institute. Designing, organizing and delivering meaningful, memorable and life-changing learning experiences for students is her passion.

 

Prior to SV Institute, she was the Program Director for Custom Programs in Entrepreneurship and Innovation at the University of California Berkeley Extension, a new initiative to introduce a dynamic higher education program that combines both interactive academic and experiential learning activities for a wide range of audiences from around the world.

Previously, she was the Director for Executive Education Immersion Programs at the University of San Francisco School of Management where she was responsible for designing, organizing and delivering executive education programs with an emphasis on innovation and entrepreneurship in Silicon Valley.

 

Prior to entering higher education she had positions in marketing, PR, and project/program management both in the United States and in Korea. She served various organizations from start-ups to Fortune 500 companies in Technology, Hospitality, and PR & Advertising industries such as Microsoft, the Westin Hotel, and J. Walter Thompson. She also founded and operated a bistro / coffee shop and a marketing consulting firm in Seattle, WA.

 

Cathy enjoys the cultural diversity of San Francisco and her career in Higher Education that she finds truly rewarding and meaningful. Cathy speaks fluent Korean.
